Proud to be an Indian!!!

I went to the Air Force show today and this being my first time , i was pretty excited about it. It was being held at the beach . I reached there well in advance and was welcomed by the announcers voice describing each aircraft which would be taking part in the Air show. There were Army officers and Air force personnel everywhere and one had the feeling of being in a Army Camp . Somewhere out there i sensed a whiff of patriotism engulfing the whole place.Anyway i felt good about it.Myself and my friend , the RD professor waited with bated breath for the show to begin. The announcer continued to reel of the names of different aircrafts and fighters, what they can do during war time and their famed accomplishments over the past. There was an air of excitement among the few dozens of people who had gathered there . For the people of this conservative city , this was a BIG TIME happening.

At exactly 2pm the show started . As we looked to our left , two Mil Mi 35 attack helicopters emerged into view . Like two gaint birds they slowly approached nearer to where we stood. As one fired flares into the water , the other showered petals as a welcome note to the people gathered there. As they passed overhead, the whiff of patriotism which i had mentioned earlier grew in luminous volumes at that place. The tiny hairs on our hands stood up in patriotic reverence.Next to come where two Sukhoi Su-30MKI , the fighter aircrafts. Majestic in appearance they zoomed overhead sid eby side. While one pinpoints the enemy location the other comes and bombs the target.

The announcer warned us to hold our breath for the next BIG THING!!! As we looked , over the far horizon , there appeared two tiny dots. With each passing second, these dots grew larger in size. And even before we could blink , the two Jaguar fighter planes were passing over us.Much faster than the Sukhoi's they just zoomed by as they made u stand in awe !!! In apperance they appeared to me like two eagles with ruffled feathers on the back of their necks. It was indeed a mind blowing spectacle as they continued their aerobics and breath taking manouvres enthralling the crowds. As they whizzed overhead for the second time , leaving behind a trail of blue revered smoke, i just wished i could get a glimpse of the brave pilot sitting inside.
Finally, it was the turn of SuryaKirans - The aerobatic team of the Indian AirForce. Six colorfully painted Hindustan Mark-II subsonic jet trainers suddenly came out the blue in perfect unision and in a triangle formation leaving behind an orange coloured trail of smoke. As we watched spell bound , they performed all sorts of stunts and daredevilry with pinpoint precision and timing. It was a treat to watch as all the six planes went high up in the air and came down in a quick nose dive like a gaint roller coaster. The show came to an end with all the six planes going in different directions and patriotic music blaring from the boxes around us. As me and RD professor got into our RD 350 ( Our own Jagaur on the road) for the ride back into the city , i couldnt help that feeling which was just overwhelming and suffocating me ...the feeling that " I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN"
